 Akiru is a charming girl who comes from the Northern part of Kenya, Turkana County. She lives with her parents, three sisters and two brothers. They live in iron sheets roofed house and mud smeared walls in their small piece of land and they fetch water from the community hand pump. Her father is the bread winner who keeps livestock and the mother depends on broom making activity. However, the annual income derived from this combined economic activity is below 360 US dollars which is not enough to support the family needs. Akiru goes to a nearby school in the village and performs better in drawing and science. Moreover, she loves playing with homemade dolls with her friends during free time.
