Elshaday lives with her parents and a sister in a neighborhood with poor hygiene and sanitation. Elshaday and her family speak Amharic. Her father is a casual worker and her mother is a petty trader, but their annual income, which is less than 300 USD, is not enough to afford even their most basic needs. They plan to improve their lives by being engaged in petty trade if they get some support. The family lives in a poorly built small house, and the nearby school and health centre lack basic equipments and trained professionals. Elshaday is a primary school student. She likes Amharic. In order to overcome the poverty she is facing, Elshaday needs to be enrolled in the project and get support.
