Let me introduce to you Hamida who lives with her parents and siblings in the rural eastern part of Uganda which is more of agricultural and savannah in nature. Angel is enrolled in school and her favorite subject is counting and reading numbers. However Hamida moves to school without shoes and this exposes her to jiggers. Hamida lacks proper beddings and they sleep on mats that are torn exposing them to diseases and this drains the family income. The house produces a lot of dust which exposes Angel and her siblings to diseases as they keep suffering from flu, cough and this drains the family income through constant treatment. The family owns a small piece of land which produces little food making feeding difficult and not adequate as they sometimes have one meal a day which is not balanced and this affects their growth and development. Access to health care is a challenge as they have to trek long distances to access services which are costly and this drains their income. Therefore, the family seeks support that will enable them participate in child fund programs that will improve on their wellbeing.
