Thenulya is a cheerful little toddler who is always by his mother’s side. He helps his stay-at-home mother to cook, clean, do the laundry and even accompanies her to the woods to gather firewood for cooking. In his spare time, he likes to ride his little bicycle. He also likes to get together with his little friends from the neighborhood and play volleyball, cricket and go riding together. Thenulya is the only child of his parents. He lives with his parents in their home situated in a beautiful village located in the poverty-stricken Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. Thenulya’s father is a farmer of seasonal crops. His annual income is approximately USD545. This young family of three must subsist with this low annual income in the midst of an economic crisis and little Thenulya could really use and intervention by a kind stranger to help him and his family stay afloat. Even the smallest intervention will go a long way and will help Thenulya to reach out for a better future for himself.
