Yashithra is a cheerful little girl living with her parents and brother in the cool and green Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka, a place known for its tea gardens, misty mountains, and refreshing climate. She enjoys dancing in her free time and is currently attending a nearby primary school, which is 1 kilometer away. She walks to school every day with her friends or brother. Her father works full-time as a wage laborer, while her mother is employed at a textile shop to help support the family. Even with both parents working, their annual income of $1280 is not enough to meet their daily needs. The family struggles to provide nutritious food and to feed the children three times a day. Education-related expenses are also a heavy burden. They live in a small home with cement walls and flooring, and a roof made of tin sheets. Though they have access to electricity, tap water, and a toilet, their life remains difficult. A kind sponsor can bring real change, helping Yashithra’s family ensure proper meals, continued schooling, and a brighter future.
