Melvin is a hilarious girl who hails in Turkana County in the Northern part of Kenya. She lives with her mother, father, one sister and one brother. They live in a palm thatched hut in their communal land. Melvin has hearing impairment and needs specialized hearing aid to complete her education, which her parents cannot afford. Her mother weaves brooms to support the family. Her father sells firewood to supplement the income. However, the family annual income is less than US$360 which is not enough to support family basic needs. For this reason, her mother came to the office to seek support to shape and better Melvin’s future. Melvin is enrolled in a nearby school and she likes English activities. While at home, she likes rope skipping as her favorite game. She also helps her mother in doing light house chores such as rinsing dishes and collecting firewood. When she grows up, she would like to be a teacher and empower others. Your support will give this child hope to move forward.
