Ana is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her parents, Jose and Ana, and with one brother, in a small rural village located in the interior of the state of Ceara, which is a hot and remote region. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Jose receives a small disability pension (he is physically disabled and uses a wheelchair for mobility), which is far from enough to meet basic needs. Ana is cheerful, affectionate and communicative. She helps her mom by washing the dishes. She loves playing house and with dolls in the company of other girls her age. She also enjoys painting. Ana is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. She attends a local public preschool where she is making good progress. She says that she will be a doctor when she grows up. The family is needy and through your support Ana and her family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
