Mananchai or Earth is a boy who was born into a needy family that lacks of various opportunities. He lives with his father, mother, older sister, older brother, and 2 siblings. His family grows rice mainly for a living and their farmland is a small plot. During an off-farm season, his father would work as a wage earner both in and out of the village to feed the family but he is suffering from diabetes and cannot work hard. His mother is hired to harvest chili but the job is not available every day. The income received cannot cover the cost.
