Silus comes from the Northern part of Uganda where most people practice farming on a small scale as their main source of livelihoods. He has grown up in this area and his parents like other people are farmers who specialize in the growing of foods like beans, cassava, soya beans, maize, sweet potatoes, groundnuts, and local vegetables. They live in a very small grass thatched house, made of mud wattle walls and a packed dirt floor. His family uses water from the well nearby for cooking, drinking, and washing however, this water may not be safe because it is not protected. When darkness comes, they use Kerosene lamp to light up the night. Silus enjoys playing football with his peers within the neighboring homesteads during weekends and the balls are locally made from banana fiber. Though the future seems not certain yet, Silus tells his friends that he would like to become a doctor when he grows up. Your sponsorship will help Silus attain his dream as his parents will be empowered with skills on farming as a business to earn them more income to address his school needs.
