Saidu was born into a needy family in the eastern part of Sierra Leone. He lives with his mother and grandmother as his father died in a road accident few months ago. They earn a living as small scale farmers and grow rice on a small plot of their land. After farming season, his mother would work as wage earner in an oil plantation to supplement the family income. Their farming is much dependent upon the forces of nature. The crops might be damaged and could not make a good selling price. When free from work, his mother and grandmother would go fishing for home cooking. In case they could find much of this stuff, they would sell the surplus to supplement the family income. It is difficult to survive with an irregular income. This may not allow his family to ensure the boy gets a decent education and proper feeding which may risk his growth. Your support is a great blessing for Yokie and his family. This will improve their living conditions and his educational opportunities will be secured.
