Carlos is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his mother, Viviane; maternal grandparents, Antonio and Cicera, and with one uncle and one cousin, on the outskirts of a municipality located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. The father has abandoned the home and has not been providing any type of financial support for his child. Viviane works as an assistant seamstress and Cicera is an assistant nurse; the combined income, however, is hardly enough to meet basic needs. Carlos is playful, affectionate and intelligent. He helps his mom by filling the bottles with water. His favorite pastimes include playing tag and hide-and-seek. He has a cat he is fond of. Carlos enjoys good health. He attends a local public school and says that he will be a police officer when he grows up. The family is needy and through your support Carlos and his family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
