Mary Rose is fondly called by her second name. Her family dwells in a simple house made of wood, bamboo, and galvanized iron roof, near the road of a remote community. They have few neighbors. They are fortunate to have access to electricity. Their source of water, however, is the man-made deep well beside the river. Their lives depend on the land they cultivate. Roses father is a farmer; they have a garden where they plant fruits and vegetables and raise chickens for selling and consumption. They earn $71.64 a month, which is scarcely enough to raise the family out of poverty. Despite financial struggles, Roses family remains thankful for their good health and blessings they receive each day. Rose is doing good in primary school. She is participative in class. She can write and read vowels and consonants now. Shes a caring and loving child. Her family owns a dog that she loves to be with at home. She is also learning how to sweep the floor and organize her belongings so she can help her mother. Her parents believe that there will be a good future waiting for Rose.
