Yan is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Michel and Valdirene, and with a sister, in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is rented, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Michel takes some odd jobs when available (he is unemployed at this time) and the family receives a very small family allowance from the federal government. Yan is cheerful, communicative and playful. He helps his mom by putting his toys away. He likes playing ball and with toy cars in the company of other kids his age. He has a dog he is fond of. Yan is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He is still too young to attend school. The family is needy and through your support Yan and his family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
