Juan is a very young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Jose and Thaina, and with a brother, in a rural community located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is rented, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Jose works as a day laborer in agriculture when available and his low income is far from enough to meet basic needs. Juan is observant, affectionate and calm. He crawls all over the floor and stands on his feet with support for a little while. He takes bottles as well as solid foods like corn pap and vegetable soup. He likes playing with colorful and noisy toys. Juan is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He is still too young to attend school. The family is needy and through your support Juan and his family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
