ChildFund moves quickly to protect children facing Ebola
The INGO partners locally, leveraging deep trust to strengthen containment and safety

RICHMOND, Virginia | May 28, 2026: Since the World Health Organization’s May 17 declaration of a Public Health Emergency for the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the virus has reached Uganda’s capital, Kampala, with wider spread almost certain.

Children are the most vulnerable in this crisis. Children’s unique needs are ChildFund’s primary focus as they face the risks of infection, of losing the people who keep them safe, and of all the dangers that too often ensue.

ChildFund is working with partner organizations embedded in affected communities on prevention, protection and keeping families together. Drawing on what we learned during our highly successful three-country response in West Africa’s 2014–2016 outbreak, we’re working to get ahead of this to keep every child and family safe.

Support can’t wait.

About ChildFund

ChildFund is a child-focused development organization that works across Africa, Asia and the Americas, including the United States, to connect children with what they need to grow up healthy, educated, skilled and safe — at home, in school, in community and online. Working through nearly 150 local partner organizations, our programs address the underlying conditions that prevent children and youth from achieving their full potential. In 2025, our programming made a difference for 35.3 million children and family members. www.ChildFund.org
