Thailand
With your support, ChildFund has helped children in Thailand thrive since 1959.
The Southeast Asian constitutional monarchy of Thailand is the only country in the region that has never been occupied by a European power. Though agriculture provides an income for many people in rural areas, earning a consistent living through farming is difficult because of frequent natural disasters, varied rainfall and fluctuating soil conditions. Children often struggle with access to nutritious foods, education and health care.
Our Work in Thailand
ChildFund works through Community Children Foundation, our partner organization in Thailand, to ensure that children grow up healthy, educated, skilled and safe.
ChildFund Thailand strengthens children’s health by ensuring that they have the nutrition, skills and safe environments they need to thrive. Through our Full Stomach, Ready to Learn initiative, we integrate improved nutrition with school-based agriculture so that children are well-fed and ready to succeed in class. Our Smart Agriculture program supports families to learn sustainable farming practices that help them become more economically self-reliant in addition to enhancing children's nutrition. To mitigate the physical and mental health challenges that often follow natural disasters, we also support communities with lifesaving first aid and emergency response training, as well as environmental connection activities that help children and families build resilience. All of these initiatives help provide a healthy foundation for children in Thailand.
ChildFund Thailand supports children’s learning by expanding access to quality, engaging and age‑appropriate educational opportunities. Through the Learning Citizens program, we support children with essential educational skills and promote education beyond the classroom, helping students explore new ways of learning. ChildFund Thailand also develops age‑appropriate reading materials and maintains an Educational Innovation website that compiles creative teaching resources, helping schools develop and share effective learning materials. To build foundational literacy, our I Can Read initiative helps boost children’s reading abilities, while I Can Write supports the development of strong writing skills — ensuring that every child has the tools needed to succeed in school and beyond.
Child protection is an integral element of all ChildFund Thailand's programming. Through our Youth 4D Immunity initiative, children and adolescents build stronger awareness of their rights, learn essential physical and mental health information, strengthen media literacy and gain tools for drug use prevention. The Youth Power initiative further enhances safety by training young people in leadership and encouraging them to organize advocacy campaigns that address issues affecting their peers. Meanwhile, Thai Children for Good Deeds fosters a strong volunteer spirit, encouraging youth to actively contribute to safer, more caring communities. Together, these programs create an environment where children are informed of their rights and supported to stay safe.
