Shalila and his two sisters lives with their parents in a village nestled in the Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. His father is a full time cultivator facing uncertainties regarding their income and livelihood, while his mother is a dedicated home maker. Shalila does not attend a school as yet. He enjoys riding his bicycle, making play houses and playing with his friends. The family lives in their own humble abode which is built with bricks and cement blocks. The floor is concreted and the roof is covered with clay tiles. The family has access to electricity and a water-sealed toilet, promoting hygiene and sanitation practices within their household and use pipe borne water. Despite the difficulties they face, Shalila’s parents strives to make the best out of their circumstances.
