This is Jhojan. He is a sweet, joyful and playful boy who grows up in the city of La Paz, nestled in the Andes Mountains at an elevation of over 3,600 meters above sea level. His main interest is to play with balls. Whether it is a soccer ball, basketball, or even a bouncy rubber ball, he cannot resist the joy that comes from rolling, bouncing, and throwing them around. He lives with his parents in a small house made of adobe walls and corrugated metal roof. They lack proper sanitation services. His father is an optician, while his mother is a vendor. The family makes around US $ 285.00 per month. The income that the family receives is minimal and insufficient to meet all of their basic family needs. Poverty is a daily reality for most Bolivian children, as they lack the necessary resources to grow. If nothing is done to change the situation, the story of this child will likely repeat itself.
