Rivelino is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his parents, Jose and Manuela, and with two sisters, one brother-in-law, and one nephew, in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is self-owned, has brick walls, rough cement flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. The father and the brother-in-law are unemployed at this time. Manuela works as an attendant for a local dental clinic and the family receives a small family allowance from the federal government. Rivelino is calm, communicative and intelligent. He helps his mom mostly by sweeping the floor and taking the garbage out. He likes playing with toy cars. Rivelino is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. He attends a local public primary school and his favorite subjects are Science and Portuguese. His wish is to be a police officer when he grows up. The family is needy and through your support Rivelino and his family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation, education and nutrition.
