Shivan lives in a semi-permanent house made of mud and wattle with her grandparents and siblings after the separation of their parents. Her family owns a small piece of land where they practice small scale farming growing food crops like maize, beans, and groundnuts. This mainly for home consumption and it is not enough throughout the seasons and at times, the family eats a single meal a day. Shivan is enrolled in a public school but due to family income challenges, attaining scholastic needs like books, scholastics remains a big challenge hence missing class. The family has access to an open well 4 Kilometers from home risking child protection due to distance. Shivan often dresses in ragged torn dresses though kept clean. Amidst such hardships, she has a dream of becoming a nurse but the current family condition can hardly support her achieve her dreams. She likes playing net ball with her age mates; she enjoys eating Rice, smashed banana together with Ground nuts. She also like drinking milk. We believe that your support will be of great impact in her life and that of her family at large.
