Yasmin is a young Brazilian girl who lives with her mother and stepfather, Francieli and Genilson, and with a younger brother, in a small rural community located in the state of Ceara. Their simple home, which is rented, has brick walls, ceramic tile flooring and a clay-tiled roof. It has a tiny bathroom. Running water and electricity are available. Genilson and Francieli are unemployed at this time and do odd jobs when available (he as a salesman, she as a cleaner) and the family receives a small family allowance from the federal government. Yasmin is active, intelligent and cheerful. She helps her mom by filling the bottles with water. She loves playing volleyball along with friends her age. Yasmin is considered to have good health, in spite of the poor living conditions and diet. She attends a local public elementary school and her favorite subject is Math. Her big dream is to become a doctor someday. The family is needy and through your support Yasmin and her family have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, recreation and education.
