Ruth is a joyful young girl who live in Turkana county in Northern part of Kenya. She lives with her mother and father, two brothers and one sister. They live in a Manyata made using cow dug smeared on the walls in a communal land. They fetch water from the nearby local hand pump. The pump’s water is saline and not good for drinking. The water from the pump is also not enough because the whole community depends on the same pump. The family primary economic activity is charcoal burning. However, her father practices herding to supplement the family income. The annual income generated from the economic activities is below US$ 360. This income hardly meets their basic needs of the family. The parents approached the office to ask for assistance. Ruth is not in school since she is not of school-going age. Ruth loves playing with toys and rope skipping. Ruth helps her parents fetch firewood for domestic uses at home. Her parents aspires her to be a psychologist in future. Your support will bring lasting changes to her.
