Thales is a young Brazilian boy who lives with his mother and stepfather, Maria and Antonio, and with two brothers, a sister and a cousin, in a small rural village located in the interior of the state of Ceara, which is a hot and remote region. Their simple home has brick walls, rough cement floors and a clay-tiled roof. It is self-built and has a tiny bathroom. Antonio works as a day laborer in agriculture when available and the family receives a small family allowance from the federal government. Thales is calm and intelligent. He helps his mom by washing the dishes. His favorite pastimes include playing soccer, tag and hide-and-seek. He has a dog he is fond of. Thales suffers from asthma (he is under treatment and takes controlling medicines). He attends a local public school and his favorite subject is math. His wish is to be an environmental engineer when he grows up. Through your support Thales and his family will have the opportunity to participate in important projects in the areas of health, education and nutrition.
