Project Highlights

  1. Dairy goat farms benefit HIV-positive groups in Kenya.

Breeding Dairy Goats

Support HIV-positive women and men as they breed dairy goats to improve nutritional standards for their children.

Kenya-MapProgram Goal:  This dairy goat breeding project will support two HIV-positive groups so they can provide goat milk for their infants and young children. Ngwatanio ya Uw’o Support Group in Mulundi consists of 14 women and one man. Andu Wa Wendo Museo (“Loving People”) Support Group in Museve consists of 15 women and five men. Both support groups are in Changwithya, a district called Kitui in Kenya.

Expected Results: ChildFund will work with a dairy goat governing board who will be responsible for overseeing the project. Our support group will train HIV-positive groups to breed dairy goats which will benefit their family and children. This project will help construct a dairy goat farm and allow the purchase and transportation of 45 dairy goats (35 does and 10 bucks) to the farm. The long-term goal is to empower these 35 folks so they make a living by farming and selling goats.

A support group in the district of Kitui, Kenya.
