ChildFund President & CEO Selected Forum Club Chair

Richmond, VA – Feb. 8, 2012– Anne Lynam Goddard, president & CEO of ChildFund International, has been selected to serve as chair of The Forum Club. Goddard succeeds Ned Massee, vice president of Corporate Affairs at MeadWestvaco, as chair and becomes the first woman to serve in the position in the organization’s almost 100-year history. Jon Lugbill, executive director at Richmond Sports Backers will serve as vice chairman, and Stephen E. Baril, counsel at Sands Anderson PC will serve as secretary/treasurer.

The result of the late Dr. Douglas Southall Freeman's former Richmond News Leader's Current Events Class, the Club has been used as a platform to discuss current national, state and local issues. It provides members an opportunity to exchange ideas on topics of interest in a democratic society, to provide a focus of community life and to stimulate the qualities of citizenship.

Goddard has spent a lifetime working to improve conditions for children around the globe. She lived and worked overseas for almost 20 years, serving in a variety of roles in Kenya, Somalia, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Egypt.

Goddard joined ChildFund International in 2007 and has implemented a strategy that expands and deepens ChildFund’s efforts across the globe in improving children’s health, education and economic conditions.

Goddard has served on the board of directors for InterAction, the largest coalition of U.S.-based international nongovernmental organizations, since 2007. She co-chairs the Basic Education Coalition, is a board member of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and serves on the Executive Committee of the Alliance for International Youth Development. She also is on the board of directors for the Richmond Forum, an educational organization that brings global influencers to Richmond. Goddard was the 2011 Influential Woman of Virginia by Virginia Lawyers Media.
